Delivered anywhere in Amsterdam and the towns around it
In Amsterdam, postal codes 1011 to 1109, delivery and collection together cost €39.95. The same rate applies in Amstelveen, Diemen, Duivendrecht, Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, Weesp, Badhoevedorp, Landsmeer and Schiphol. A handover at any of the five airports, Schiphol included, is €69.50. Rent for 6 weeks or longer and delivery and collection are free.
We deliver where you are:
- At your hotel. Choose "Delivery to a hotel or vacation address" at checkout, give the hotel's name and let reception know it is coming. We hand it over at reception or at your door, and collect it there at the end of your stay.
- At Schiphol, in the arrivals hall. Choose the airport at checkout and give your landing time, and your flight number if you like. We wait for you when you land, explain the scooter in a few minutes, and collect it before your departure. Delivery and collection at the airport cost €69.50 together.
- At a holiday apartment or a friend's home, including an upstairs flat: we carry it in. A doorstep or a flight of stairs we sort out on the spot.
- At a hospital, rehabilitation centre or care home. Give the name of the institution and the ward at checkout.
You choose the day when you book; we then call to agree a time slot. Everything is in English if you want it: the booking, the confirmation, the invoice and the phone call.
Taking the scooter on the tram, the metro and the ferries
The city's own visitor site, I amsterdam, says: "Electric mobility scooters are allowed on trams, at a maximum 120 cm length; 70 cm width; 109 cm height", the same on the metro, where "all metro stations in Amsterdam are marked as wheelchair accessible with lifts, ramps and wide fare gates". On buses, "electric mobility scooters are not permitted", though wheelchairs are, with a fold-out ramp the driver fits. And the free ferries across the IJ to Amsterdam Noord: "Wheelchairs, mobility aids and scooters are all permitted on ferries." The operator, GVB, gives the same limits and adds one tip: park the scooter facing backwards, the safest way if the tram brakes hard. Not every tram stop has a level platform; the GVB app marks the accessible ones.
Our folding scooter fits within 120 by 70 by 109 centimetres. If you plan to use the tram or the metro, tell us when you book and we check it with you. What every Dutch operator allows, trains and ferries included, is on our page Scootmobiel in het openbaar vervoer, in Dutch.
(Read on 24 October 2026. Transport rules change; the operator's own page is the one that counts.)
What a visitor wrote
"I rented a mobility scooter from MR Motion for a 7 day visit to Amsterdam and I am so thankful I did. The experience was flawless arranging a delivery time at my hotel lobby. He was on time and provided a brief tutorial of how to use the scooter. This scooter saved my vacation! After recent hip surgery, there was no way I would have been able to enjoy my vacation and participate with my family. Thank you very much for a pleasant experience." Museums, the zoo and the canals with a scooter or a wheelchair
What the places themselves say, read on 24 October 2026:
- The Rijksmuseum says on its accessibility pages: "The entire museum is accessible to wheelchairs, mobility scooters, and balance bikes", with one caveat, "The elevator in the KPN Wng is too small for large mobility scooters", so our folding scooter is the one to bring. Of the three entrances, the one on the left as you face away from Museumplein has the lift; wheelchairs, walkers and folding chairs can be borrowed at the information desk, and a companion enters free with a reserved free ticket.
- ARTIS, the zoo, says most of the zoo, the Groote Museum and Micropia are "accessible by wheelchair or mobility scooter", and names the steep bits: the path to the sea lions, the butterfly pavilion's ramp, the back of the tropical house. It has twenty wheelchairs to borrow for a returnable coin and one mobility scooter to borrow against a deposit, reserved a day ahead by phone; on busy days there may be none, which is where a scooter of your own for the week comes in. One companion enters free.
- The Anne Frank House is honest about its stairs: "Because of the stairs, the historic section is unfortunately not accessible by wheelchair or other mobility aids." The modern part, with the exhibition, the scale models, the café and the shop, can be reached by lift with a staff member, and the museum offers an introductory programme as an alternative.
- Canal cruises: Stromma says in its questions that its boats "are not wheelchair accessible": three steps down to board, piers often reached by stairs, a folded wheelchair possible if you can manage the steps. A scooter stays on the quay; a folding wheelchair is the thing to bring on the water.
The Van Gogh Museum's and Schiphol's pages could not be read by an automated reader, so they are not quoted here; ask them directly, or ask us.
(Museums and parks change their rules; their own pages are the ones that count.)
Which scooter for Amsterdam?
- The folding scooter comes apart in five pieces for a car boot or a taxi, fits in almost any lift and within the tram and metro limits, and does about 12 kilometres on a charge: the museum quarter, the canals and back to the hotel, where it charges overnight at an ordinary socket. The battery, the heaviest piece at 12 kilos, comes off and charges on its own in your room. For most visitors this is the one.
- The heavy-duty scooter does about 55 kilometres and carries up to 160 kilos, for long days and a stay at one address; it does not fit every lift or go on the tram.
Both come with the charger and a few minutes of explanation at handover. Our guide Mobility scooter and wheelchair rental in Amsterdam and the Netherlands has the practical side of a trip: cobbles, bike lanes, the weather and the law.
Wheelchair rental in Amsterdam
A folding wheelchair, pushed by a companion or self-propelled, is often the better choice for a city of narrow pavements, museums and canal boats. It weighs 15.4 kilos, goes in a car boot, and the armrests fold back and the footrests come off, so getting in and out at a museum bench or a restaurant table is easy. It costs €25.50 a week or €19.95 for a weekend from Saturday to Sunday, delivered to your hotel for €39.95 or to Schiphol for €69.50; a rollator with a seat is €19.95 a week or €14.95 for a weekend. No deposit; the damage and theft insurance is €5.00 for up to a week.
