Taking a mobility scooter on holiday in the Netherlands, made easy
A day at the beach, a week at a holiday park or a city visit with someone who no longer walks far. How to bring a mobility scooter along or have it delivered on the spot, and what to watch for.
A holiday does not have to founder on walking. With a mobility scooter the beach, the boulevard or the old town centre is within reach again, also for anyone who has no scooter at home. Two ways: you take one along in the car, or you have it delivered to the holiday address.
Taking it in the car: the disassembling scooter
A disassembling scooter comes apart into a few sections; the heaviest one lifts into the boot with two hands. The whole weighs about 40 kilos. At the holiday address you put it back together in a few minutes. It goes about 12 kilometres on a charge: enough for a boulevard there and back or a morning in town. At night you charge it from an ordinary socket.

Delivery to the holiday address
Prefer not to carry, or travelling by train? We also deliver straight to the hotel, the holiday park or the holiday home, anywhere in the Netherlands. When booking you choose "delivery to a hotel or holiday address" and enter the hotel's name. We call beforehand to agree a time slot and report to the reception.

What does it cost?
A mobility scooter rents for €65.35 a week; a long weekend counts as a week too. Four weeks cost €234.35. A wheelchair for a weekend away is available from €19.95, a rollator from €14.95. Every rental includes damage and theft cover; we ask no deposit.
What to watch for
- Book in time in the season. In summer scooters are scarce; a week ahead is sensible. Up to 48 hours before the start you cancel free of charge, so booking commits you to nothing.
- Look at the ground. A scooter rides fine on the boulevard, cycle paths and paved paths. Loose sand and gravel, not.
- Ask the hotel or park about thresholds and the lift. The disassembling scooter fits in almost every lift; the heavy-duty one not always.
- Bring the charger. It comes with the scooter; one night of charging is enough for the next day.
With a disassembling scooter the boot of a hire car or a taxi is no problem either, and most ferries simply take it along.
